In the context of gate automation, particularly with Centurion Systems, the D10 Shaft (usually referred to as the D10 Wormshaft or Output Shaft) is the heavy-duty rod that transfers power from the motor to the gate’s rack and pinion.
The shaft is a critical mechanical part of the Centurion D10 and D10 Smart industrial gate motors. Because the D10 is designed for massive gates (up to 1,000kg), this shaft is built much thicker and stronger than the ones found in home motors like the D5.
D10 Wormshaft Assembly: The internal screw-like rod that connects the motor to the internal gears.
D10 Output Shaft: The part that sticks out of the gearbox and holds the Pinion (the gear that touches the gate rack).
D10 Shaft Assembly (Replacement Part): ₦65,000 – ₦85,000
Full D10 Smart Motor Kit: ₦1,500,000 – ₦2,000,000
The “Grinding” Sound: If you hear a loud metal-on-metal grinding but the gate isn’t moving, the teeth on the shaft or the internal gear are likely stripped.
Oil Leaks: The shaft has an oil seal. If you see oil leaking from the bottom of the motor, the seal is broken, and often the shaft needs to be inspected for wear.
Wobbling Pinion: If the external gear (pinion) wiggles when you touch it, the shaft or its bearings are worn out.
